Squirrel Stopper Universal In-Ground Pole Stabilizer (PS10)

We were looking for something to support our garden spinner and hanging basket rod. When it gets windy this Fall and Winter, we don't want to worry about them falling over. I am very happy with the quality of this product and am confident this is a big stability improvement. And, fairly easy to install, although the bolts took me laying on on stomach in the dirt to get the threading lined up correctly. Worth it anyway. I will be buying another one.

I bought this unit for a 1-1/4-inch wooden pole to get additional support beyond sinking the pole into the ground. The issue is raccoons, which are strong enough to tilt the pole because they can sit on a railing that the pole is close to. The unit is very sturdy, made of steel; and well designed so it can be assembled around the pole without having to remove the pole from the ground. Although not Prime, the unit arrived within a few days, much sooner than the estimated date range. One commenter said that it came without the thumb screws. That was not true in my case, and the manufacturer, in response to my query, said if they happen to be omitted, contact the manufacturer. As I say, they did come with my unit and worked great.

Great product! The four stakes that dig into the ground are larger than they appear in the picture on the Amazon site. They're more the size of the lower half of a heavy duty trowel; quite impressive versus the wire type devices.I noticed some reviewers saying they drive the stakes in the ground using a hammer; the instructions warn against this. All you need to do is gently push down on each stake with your shoe and keep working your way around until you have all the stakes level with the ground.The fact that the device anchors poles up to 2" in diameter really worked out for me. My pole is 1" in diameter but I have an augur attached to the bottom of the pole that the pole fits into. The auger attachment is probably 1 1/4" in diameter and this is what the stabilizer had to fit around. If I had purchased a unit that fit just 1" poles it would have never fit!

I have had one of the hanging basket poles lean over the past few years. I have a pair of them so they need to be exactly the same, not one straight and the other leaning. They have a good anchor fairly deep into the ground, along with concrete. The ground is soft near of the poles and with weight from the flower basket, it starts leaning. This has fixed the problem. The poles are in an area near my deck which has landscape gravel on the ground and no grass. I scraped away the gravel, marked the landscape fabric for the feet position, slit the fabric and pushed the feet into the ground. I ended up using some brown spray paint on the tops of the 4 arms, so the shiny metal of the arms does not show through the gravel, even though it is a good 3 inches thick.

I am using it to support a bird feeder pole. I just installed it, so I have no long term experience with it, but it kept the pole straight during recent high winds. The spade-like ends seem to be what makes it better than the support it is replacing. Another advantage is that it comes in two pieces and you can place it around the pole without disassembling the pole.
